Special Gold Branching Hammer
Special Gold Branching Hammer carries the classic hammer look in a warm, pale gold tone — rounded, bulbous polyp heads clustered thickly across a branching base, each one catching the light softly rather than glowing intensely. It’s a more understated colour than some of the brighter hammer morphs, making it a good anchor piece for a colony that leans on texture and shape as much as colour.
Hammers are a great beginner LPS — hardy, fast-growing given the right conditions, and forgiving of minor mistakes. One important note: hammers should never be placed next to torch corals, as both carry a strong sting and will aggressively fight for territory if too close together.
Care basics
- Lighting: Low, but tolerates a wide range.
- Flow: Low, indirect. Avoid blasting it with direct heavy flow, which can damage the coral.
- Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers.
- Feeding: Not required, but it will take larger meaty foods or powdered foods like Reef-Roids if offered.
- Placement: Keep well away from torch corals and other long-tentacled Euphyllia species.
