Indo Mardi Gras Torch
This Indo Mardi Gras Torch is a beautiful example of one of the most recognisable torch patterns going — golden-olive stems dotted all over with vivid blue, ball-like polyp tips, giving the whole piece a scattered, almost confetti-like look that’s earned it the “Mardi Gras” name. It’s a coral that photographs as well as it looks in person, and one that holds attention in a display tank.
Torches are widely regarded as one of the most stunning LPS species for general display, and a well-marked Mardi Gras like this one is a genuine step up from a standard single-colour torch.
Care basics
- Lighting: Mid to high, though tolerates a wide range.
- Flow: Moderate and random. Avoid blasting it with direct heavy flow — this can damage the coral.
- Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers.
- Feeding: Not required, but it will take larger meaty foods or powdered foods like Reef-Roids if offered.
- Placement: Torches carry a strong sting and can reach further than expected once fully extended — give it real space from neighbouring corals.
