Rainbow Hologram is a highly sought-after hammer morph, and it’s easy to see why — under blue LED lighting, the polyps show a genuine holographic shimmer running through purple, green, and gold tones that shifts as you view it from different angles. Worth noting the listing photos were taken under blue LED specifically to capture this effect, so the exact intensity of the “hologram” look will depend on your own tank’s lighting spectrum.

Hammer corals are named for their distinctive anvil-shaped polyp tips, and this branching variety will grow outward into an increasingly full, waving colony over time given the right conditions.

Care basics

• Lighting: Low, but tolerates a wide range. Blue-heavy spectrum lighting will bring out the holographic effect most strongly.
• Flow: Low. Gentle, indirect flow is best.
• Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers.
• Feeding: Not required, but it will take larger meaty foods or powdered foods like Reef-Roids if offered.
• Placement: Keep well away from torch corals and other long-tentacled Euphyllia species, as hammers will aggressively compete for territory with them.
