Bright Green Cultured Lettuce Coral (Pavona)
This Pavona, commonly known as Lettuce coral, shows off vivid green, ruffled fronds that rise up like folded leaves from a fully encrusted base — a genuinely sculptural shape that adds real vertical interest to a display tank. It’s a fast-growing SPS species and, unusually for the category, considered easy to keep, making it a good entry point if you’re moving into SPS for the first time.
Given the right conditions, Pavona will continue to encrust outward and build up its distinctive ruffled form fairly quickly compared to many other SPS corals.
Care basics
- Lighting: Moderate.
- Flow: Strong and random.
- Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers, as with other SPS corals.
- Feeding: Not required — it gets most of its energy from light.
- Placement: Peaceful, but will encrust and spread over time, so give it room to grow.
Supplied as a large frag, approx 4cm, on a 3cm plug.
