Purple and green warpaint Acanthastrea Micromusssa Lordhowensis
This Acanthastrea Micromussa Lordhowensis lives up to its name — a rich, mottled purple body surrounds a striking centre ringed in bright teal, with pale green warpaint-style markings radiating out from the mouth. It’s the kind of detail that really only shows up close, making it a great pick for a display spot where it’ll get noticed.
Acan corals come in an enormous range of colour combinations, and pieces with this much contrast between the body and centre tend to be sought after for exactly that reason.
Care basics
- Lighting: Low to moderate. Acans generally prefer the lower end of the tank and can bleach out under overly intense light.
- Flow: Low. Gentle, indirect flow is best — heavy flow can damage the fleshy polyps.
- Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers.
- Feeding: Not required, but it will take finer coral foods if offered.
- Handling: Generally peaceful, but give it space from more aggressive neighbours since it can’t defend territory the way stronger stinging corals can.
