Mary Jane Zoa (4+ polyps)

Mary Jane is one of the true old-school classics in the zoa hobby — alongside names like Rasta and Eagle Eye, it’s one of the morphs most reef keepers will recognise on sight. This one carries a purple base plate, a bright orange centre, and blue tentacles, giving it a cool-and-warm contrast that stands out well against greener or more muted neighbours in a zoa garden.

Like most zoas, it settles in and spreads steadily once happy, budding outward to build a colony over time.

Care basics

  • Lighting: Low to moderate. Tolerates a wide range of lighting.
  • Flow: Low to moderate. Keeps polyps extended and healthy without being battered.
  • Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers.
  • Feeding: Not required, but occasional fine-particle feeding can help growth and colour.
  • Handling: Contains palytoxin, as all zoanthids do. Never handle out of water, and wear gloves when fragging.

Supplied as 4+ zoas on a plug.
