Long Stem Jester Torch Coral
Jester Torch stands apart from a typical torch coral on two counts: the stems run unusually long and flowing rather than short and stout, and the colouring runs three-tone — deep purple and gold through the stem, finished with a bright, almost glowing teal-green tip. Under flow, those long stems sway freely, which is part of what makes this one such a strong display piece.
Torches are widely considered one of the most striking LPS corals for a display tank, and a long-stem piece like this one earns its place as a centrepiece rather than a background filler.
Care basics
- Lighting: Mid to high, though tolerates a wide range.
- Flow: Moderate and random. Avoid blasting it with direct heavy flow — this can damage the coral.
- Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers.
- Feeding: Not required, but it will take larger meaty foods or powdered foods like Reef-Roids if offered.
- Placement: Torches carry a strong sting and, with stems this long, can reach further than expected once fully extended — give it real space from neighbouring corals.
