Bloodsucker Zoa Frag
Bloodsucker earns its dramatic name honestly — a bright red face set against dark, almost black-purple tentacles, with a crisp white mouth cutting through the middle. It’s a high-contrast, unmistakable zoa that holds its own as a focal point rather than blending into a mixed garden.
Like most zoas, it settles in and spreads steadily once happy, budding outward to build a colony over time.
Care basics
- Lighting: Low to moderate. Tolerates a wide range of lighting.
- Flow: Moderate to high. Keeps detritus off the polyps and supports healthy spread.
- Water chemistry: Stable calcium, alkalinity and magnesium matter more than chasing exact numbers.
- Feeding: Not required, but occasional fine-particle feeding can help growth and colour.
- Handling: Contains palytoxin, as all zoanthids do. Never handle out of water, and wear gloves when fragging.
